Answer: Both filters use formaldezorb with carbon to capture odors as well as formaldehyde.
Amaircare VOC Canister filters are available for all sizes of Amaircare portable air purifiers as well as many of the industrial ones and HVAC units .Amaircare’s standard VOC Canisters capture approximately 20% aldehydes (including formaldehyde) in a single pass. Amaircare’s Formaldezorb VOC Canister is a proprietary specialty activated solid carbon that is chemically modified on the surface with a compound specifically targeting formaldehyde and other aldehydes. Formaldehyde being the most reactive aldehyde, binds to the surface of the modified carbon in a highly effective manner. Based on this specially formulated process, Amaircare Formaldezorb VOC Canisters remove 60% to 75% of formaldehyde in a single pass. Safe Home Duo HVAC filters come in 1 inch and 4 inch sizes. The one inch sizes have an internal metal frame with self-sealing edges. The four inch ones use pleated filter media: the outside of the filter has sealing strips. Again the idea is to have no unfiltered air go around the filter.

Filter life depends upon how much dust, dirt, chemicals etc are in your interior air. The VOC filter typically lasts 1 year. Furnace filter life is usually 3 months.
We urge that you consult your HVAC technician before purchasing any furnace filter. The Safe Home Duo filters have a MERV 8 rating which works in most newer (as in last 20 years) HVAC systems.
